DESCRIPTION
2009
This was an interior design project consisting of the renovation of one floor in an existing building in the Lesseps Plaza, which was the Barcelona headquarters of SEDIGAS, the Spanish Natural Gas Association. The project was all on a single large floor, but with a forest of pillars distributed almost randomly, a large space in the middle of the floor that contained one of the stairwells for the building, and with only the facade providing natural light.
As a starting point, we proposed an interior distribution based on the use of glass panels, so as to take maximum advantage of the natural light through their placement. We designed a elliptical meeting room in the central space that defined the rest of the distribution. We then divided the rest of the space into sectors, creating first a reception and administration space, another for management, and a third for technicians.
We also planned rooms that could be sectioned off or opened up as needed, controlled from reception.
The central space containing the meeting room has along the length of its glass walls an etching of the entire skyline of Barcelona.
