DESCRIPTION
2006
During the 23 years that I was the municipal architect of Sant Llorenç Savall, with each and every one of the town councils that I worked with we fought for the possibility of building a municipal pavilion. In the latter years, we were able to design a covered court in the sporting zone in the only spot where that was possible, as in the heart of the area there is a very deep watercourse, and even though it is covered it is not advisable to build on it, as the cost would be very high.
The new project took advantage of the existing roof and converted part of it to a new sports pavilion. The spaces around the court were re-adapted for locker rooms, new entrances, etc. On the south wall, at the lowest and highest points, we opened views, and protected them with brise soleil to filter the sunlight. On the north wall we were able to open windows along the entire length. We designed bleacher seating as horizontal slabs in a way that permits views through the vertical openings, and below this we put the players´ access to the court.
The execution of the project was done by other architects, and the final result was not exactly what we had designed.
