DESCRIPTION
1999
The Segura house is the result of an absolute involvement and close collaboration betweeen the owner and the technical team.
It shows the possibility of carrying out a project without any conceptual barriers, excepting only economic ones, or at least those that delimited the project. The house is developed on a topographically complex site, with a steep slope from west to east. As a result, it was decided to create a house with an entrance at the highest part of the lot, and have the rest of the building extending over the existing forest, supported by three V-shaped pillars.
The building is oriented completely toward the ¨flying¨ part, where there are impressive views of St. Llorenç del Munt and the Barcelonés province, and even sea views of the Mediterranean coastline.
From this part extend ¨flying¨ terraces, suspended by steel cables that are supported by a system of turnbuckles connected to the V-shaped pillars. The building consists of two bodies, the first of a single floor placed on the ground, where there is a garage. The second consists of a large parallelepiped with a trapezoidal shape both in the horizontal and vertical planes. The east and south facades and part of the north are completely made of double-height glass that follow the angle of the V-shaped pillars.
The interior distribution is very open with a significant part being double-height, which means that it functions almost as a single space.
In this case the design of the resulting space, as contents and container together, enjoy an intrinsic coherence that converts it into a unique object.
