The Font house is a committment to a particular archtectural style that is applicable on steeply sloping properties, and is a type of solution totally opposite to the Segura house.
This case is an example of a construction project employing the concept of Mediterranean terraces, in a way that there is only one principal facade. The opposing facade is the property terrain contained by a retaining wall. It is important to note that the orientation of the terrace facade is southerly.
Cross ventilation is possible due to the dual levels. The functional design of the house is developed in a linear manner. Each of the rooms in the house has access to the outdoors, and the same orientation and view.
This construction model is similar to a cave, in that it has excellent climatic behavior. When a well proportioned porch is added in the correct location, the economic savings in air conditioning costs are considerable.
The use of conventional materials and construction methods, along with its very rational proportions and geometry, allowed this house to be built economically while maintaining high architectural quality.
The placement of the spaces, their orientation, and the intentional visual connectivity between the distinct areas make the interior space of the house a luminous, cheerful, and easily filled place.
